Laura Schier: Co-Founder/Lead Investigator

Hailing from Houston, Texas, Laura arrived in the Coos Bay area in 2005. Within a year, she had met Donna Stewart and co-founded PSI of Oregon, tackling the sometimes demanding job of Case Manager and Technical Developement.

Laura intererest in the paranormal began when she was a child. Her mother had just tucked her into bed, and, as she turned toward the door as her mother left the room, she clearly saw a man standing in the doorway, and, to this day, Laura still remembers exactly what the man looked like and what he was wearing. She didn't think much more about until she got older and began wondering about the possibilities of the paranormal. "I can remember tuning into the old UHF channels on the TV, trying to hear voices," she says. "I would try anything because I wanted answers. I still do!"

Laura's most memorable paranormal experience happened during one of PSI of Oregon first investigation in a mausoleum, when she saw a black shadowy shape at the end of the hallway. PSI of Oregon co-founder, Donna Stewart, was behind Laura, taking pictures and "every time the flash went off, I could see the shadow moving closer toward me," Laura recalls. "I pride myself on being the calm on of the group, but, on the inside, I was ready to run!" On a more cheerful note, Laura participated in a recent investigation where a young child had passed away, and the child apparently felt safe with Laura! "I could feel him holding onto my arm, and he stayed by my side throughout the entire investigation," she says. :It made me feel good that he felt safe enough with me to do that."

When asked what her favorite part of an investigation is, Laura replied, "Showing data collected to the client, and providing them with answers where there were none before, seeing the relief in their eyes, or hearing how much more comfortable in their himes they are because we were able to help them. That is why I do this. Even more than finding that one piece of undisputable data, I want to help our clients. And if that is all we ever do, it is more than enough."

More About Laura

Laura's advice to those new to the paranormal field to study. "The Three R's - Relax, because you never see headlines about a spirit killing an investigator. It just doesn't happen in real life. And if you are relaxed, spirits will pick up on that, just as we pick up on their emotions. Remember that they are human beings, and they have feelings too! And Respect - Always show spirits the same respect you would show your family or friends, or any living human being for that matter. They were as alive as we are at one time, and they deserve our respect, especially when we are entering their home. We are the guests and must act as such at all times! And Respond - If you are doing EVP recordings and asking the spirits to respond to you, either verbally or physically, be polite and respond to them by thanking them for speaking with you or interacting with you. They may have just told you their life story, and if you aren't doing real-time EVP sessions, you will not hear it until you get home and review the audio data. So thank them while you are investigating. Respond to them as if they have responded to your every request. After all, if you took the time to answer someones question, expending your energy, and they did not bother to thank you, would you be inclined to answer any more?"

When not working with PSI of Oregon, Laura enjoys being outdoors and spending time with the people she cares about. She also enjoys golf and nature photography.
