PSI of Oregon Youth Group

There is so much curiosity about the paranormal, and not all of it is good! Cemeteries are being vandalized and defaced, private property is being trespassed upon - all in search of spooky thrills! In the end, someone always gets hurts, be it physically or emotionally. The graves and headstones that are being vandalized belong to people who lived in our area, who were pioneers, and who still have family in this area. It is an act of cowardice to destroy or deface the marker of the deceased, and is something that PSI of Oregon has rallied against on a constant basis.

But we believe that if young people were more educated on the meaning of these graves, the meaning of the headstones, and had an idea about who exactly is resting in these graves, what they endured in life and what they did for our community, the vandalism may ease up. And we also know that you people have developed a fascination for the paranormal in general, due to the vast array of paranormal programming being broadcast almost every night of the week. PSI of Oregon also knows that what is seen in these so-called paranormal reality series' is far from reality.

There are true danger when investigating the paranormal. Precautions must be taken and personal protection must be used at all times. Spiritual attachments are not as uncommon as one may think. It has happened to even the most seasoned of investigators. And many times the spirit that attaches itself to you is not nice. And sneaking around cemeteries at night is physically dangerous! There is always the possibility of a freshly dug grave that has left a hole in the ground into which someone could unexpectedly fall, wild animals venturing into city limits searching for food, or even other people who may have ill intentions. Trespassing on private property not only carries the threat of arrest and jail, but also injury; falling through old and worn out floors, getting cut on broken glass, or, even worse, a used syringe, getting lost in the dark, etc. The ramifications are endless and not worth a moments thrill. When you look at the reality of trespassing, it doesn't sound too daring and glamorous at all! And it's not! No credible paranormal team or investigator will ever partake in such activities, nor will any credible paranormal team or investigator associate with anyone who does! And it is for that reason - to educate young people - that PSI of Oregon is in the beginning phases of organizing a youth group for those interested in the paranormal, equipment and the uses, policies and procedures, evidence review and analysis, equipment education and training, etc. However, PSI of Oregon will not allow anyone under the age of 18 to become an official PSI of Oregon team member or engage in any sort of field work or investigation. But PSI of Oregon will provide paranormal education, training and knowledge to those 15 years of age and older, with parental consent. And in the event that any members of the PSI of Oregon Youth Group is still active and in good standing upon turning 18, they may be offered a permanent position on the PSI of Oregon team.

Youth Group members will also assist PSI of Oregon with promotions, education, seminars, fundraisers and community events.

This is a strict and serious program, and all members must adhere to the rules and bylaws put into place by PSI of Oregon, and all members must respect the deceased and their resting places.

If you or someone you know is interested in the PSI of Oregon Youth Group, please fill out and submit the form below and a PSI of Oregon team member will contact you and send you the formal application, rules and bylaws. All returned applications must include parent or legal guardian's name, signature, address, email and phone number for verification purposes. No one will be admitted without written permission and interview with parent or legal guardian. Parents are also welcome to attend Youth Group meetings, training and seminars.

PSI of Oregon hopes to have the Youth Group in place by the end of 2011, and will have openings for 10-15 people. Meetings will be held 1-2 times per month and will be mandatory. PSI of Oregon will provide written material, sample evidence reviews, scientific and spiritual studies.

The PSI of Oregon Team looks forward to meeting you and getting to know you!

The PSI of Oregon Youth Group will operate under the tutilage of Kira Henderson, Savanna Glazier and Jessica Foster.

We cannot tell you how many times we have heard young people brag about breaking into local abondoned buildings to "hunt ghosts". Not only is this illegal, but also very dangerous, as many of these building are unsound. The PSI of Oregon Youth Group hopes to teach the younger generation about paranormal research and investigation in a safe and informational way.

Vandalism in cemeteries is also on the rise. Teens find humor in destroying the markers on the final resting places of those who have passed before us; those whose hard work, sweat and tears, made this area what it is today. The PSI of Oregon Youth Group will teach respect for the deceased, as well as the history that still resides in the Coos Bay area.

The paranormal field does not discriminate due to age. We can all work together as a whole, furthering our research, and, at the same time, teaching a group of respectful future researchers. While no field investigation will be involved, we will train under mock investigations. Safety is our number one priority when it comes to the young people in our community.
