Terrie Chandler: Investigator
A native Oregonian, Terrie is one of the newest members of PSI of Oregon. Terrie was born in Tillamook, Oregon and moved to the Coos Bay area in 1963 and has spent most of her life here. Terrie moved to Warrenton, Oregon in 1983 when her husband was in the Coast Guard, then lived briefly in California and Nevada before returning to Coos Bay in 1989.
Terrie's interest in the paranormal began as a child, and she recalls her grandfather telling her about visits from her deceased grandmother, who would sit on the edge of the bed at night and urge him to check on the children. In 1987, when Terrie and her family lived in Warrenton, Oregon, she recalls her 4 year old daughter having tea parties with "Old Grandpa". However, "Old Grandpa" had passed away. Terrie clearly recalls hearing her daughter having one-sided conversations with someone in her room, though she "never thought to take pictures or place a recorder in the room." Terrie says, "Ghost hunting just wasn't something people did then, or had even heard of. I sure wish I knew then what I know now!"
Terrie's most memorable paranormal experience wasn't just a single experience, but one she experiences thoughout her high school years in Coos Bay. "It was the house we lived in while I was in high school. My entire family had experiences there. We could hear someone opening the front door and walking through the house, the sounds of breathing in the basement and other doors opening and closing," Terrie recalls. "I often wonder if the people who have lived there since have had similar experiences."
When asked what her favorite part of an investigation is, Terrie replied, "I like it all but, mostly the gathering of evidence and being able to help people understand what is going on and putting them at ease."
